Hm… lets say that Gardevoir was facing against an Umbreon instead of another Gardevoir.Umbreon’s normal ability is Synchronize. If a foe gives it a status, it will ‘bounce it back’, so they’ll have it as well.
So if Gardevoir is sent out and Umbreon is there, s/he will Trace Synchronize. Therefore, s/he will have the same ability as Umbreon for the duration of the battle (or how long s/he is out of the pokeball. I think it reverts to Trace if you switch him/her out).
So the text will say: Gardevoir’s Trace! Traced foe Umbreon’s Synchronize!
I hope this makes sense eve
OxO …SO MAGIC. GOT IT. DERP. *Starts hitting her head against the wall* I get it a little better, I think. Like holding up a mirror to another mirror?
Sort of. That was the joke of Gardevoir vs Gardevoir. They traced each other, so it was useless.
But Gardevoir vs another pokemon that does not have trace = Gardevoir copies their ability for a short time.
